Roadtrek - Our Hale 'Auana - Our "2nd Home"

Where our Roadtrek has taken us
A '95 Model 190 Popular Roadtrek is my 2nd home. It is 19' long, has a king size bed, bathroom, shower, refrigerator, microwave oven, two burner stove, furnace, air conditioner really self contained. The greatest thing about it, is having my own bed and bathroom with me at all times. This also very helpful when traveling with grandkids no more searching for a service station, broad bushes or tall cactus.
Camping in the Seven Devils in Idaho

After a trip it is stored somewhere on the mainland, then just fly home to
Hawaii. It patiently waits there for the next trip. For a year
we stored it in Redwood City north of San Francisco. Then in
Idaho for a year or so. Right now it is stored in Las Vegas and is
my "set of wheels" when I fly there just fill the water tanks, stop
at a grocery to fill the cupboards and refrig, and off we go. Doesn't take
more that an hour or two.
Kelly Creek in Northern Idaho, great fishing
It
is great in the mountains on back country dirt roads, the high clearance
allows us to go where I would hesitate taking a standard car. I can get right
to where the fish are and then just camp there. Wake up the
next morning with the sun and start fishing. It can't get better than
that!
On the freeways I generally keep it at just under 60 mph. it has averaged, including city driving and crawling around the mountains, 16.5 miles per gallon over the 120,000 miles I've put on it not bad for our second home.
One pushes (while one brakes)
We have taken some great trips in it, some times with a couple of grandkids
for company. Once up to Yellowstone in the fall. Fall is a great time
the summer crowds have left, the animals are down from the mountains and
feeding to get ready for winter. One night my grandson and I went for a short
walk after dark. He was amazed to see the number of stars in the sky.
A couple of times to we have gone to Disney Land with different sets of grandkids Disneyland is always fun with kids. October is a great time to take kids to Disneyland the crowds have thinned out dramatically. You can do many more rides in a day. As for pulling the kids out of school for a few days, I believe it was Mark Twain who said "Don't let schooling get in the way of education".
